Ex Graduate of the Belgian Project Gary Donaldson made me a happy man today, always happy when some one who has been involved with the project does something special and the Caldwell is no easy race, and that is a understatement. Already tried to establish a break early in the race at Portglenone, and settled back before making the connection to the next deciding break after the long drag at the Springwel Cat 1 climb about 40kms to the finish in Galgorm. This is one of the toughest races in N-Ireland and 120kms long with some serious players involved today such as ex Pro Ronan Mc Laughlin, his team mate Matteo Cigala  (ex national Italian Team espoir) to name a few..It became a sprint to the line for about 7-8 riders whom Gary won with a few bikes spare to Ronan Mc laughlin(Pactimo) and in third James Curry, who races now for the french team Pomme Marseille. Great spring weather with sunny skies and light cool breeze .. organised by one of the oldest clubs in Ulster Ballymena RC, a cup for the winner who can not take it home, as it can not leave the borough for insurance reasons(pure silver and very old) Gary received a plaque instead to take home. A great feast after in the head quarters of  Ballymena RC,  being on a diet only could touch a few sarnies, and just had a stare at the wonderful cakes on display..lol (didn’t touch them honest!) A great day of racing, great weather and today felt like a band of friends out for the day.. till tomorrow in Cookstown for youth, ladies and senior racing in the Mid Ulster GP..
