With our 10th anniversary we thought we do a few different things during the season. This to show our appreciation, and thanks to some prolific figures in cycling in Ireland and Belgium, including some volunteers, guest parents of the project and guest photographers. Each week we surprise someone who we think deserves a well meant thanks for promoting cycling in different disciplines, helping us out to spread the news, building on the future of our beloved sport. We will do our best to get each medal personally handed over, with a wee story included on the website to explain why (most of you know already why) Our first medal was put around the neck of a woman I admire for her determination to better herself at each event she participate..It can be on world level, European level, National level and provincial level..meet the lioness from Ballymena Eileen Burns. Eileen not only does well in racing, she gives a lot back to it to..promoting cycling in schools, workshops etc..and have helped elevated woman’s cycling to a platform its deserves. To many things she achieved to mention them here, but the multiple Irish track champ and record holding TT specialist Eileen just oozes determination and love for the sport, with also her caring side with working in the NHS in mind… the medal find a good home. Well done Eileen xx. Ps. This medal is for Eileen’s husband Jason to..the man behind a good woman! This report and the medals are sponsored by Alan Bingham’s AB Trophies
A story about two Irish Champs invisible to the selectors it seems..an explanation would be welcome !
