The Newry 3day first stage was stopped at the second passage of the line due to an unfortunate accident between one of the PSNI out riders and a car in the cavalcade, no news yet what actually happened but hopefully the policeman and the car driver are not to badly hurt. The comms and promoters Newry Wheelers took quickly the decision to stop the race as the course was not safe anymore for the riders and cavalcade to continue for the last lap, and the race was annulled, to resume tomorrow fresh. Safety first was the motto of Newry Wheelers and appreciated by all involved. Here some photos of before and after the race and some of the passages on the dual carriage way. Lets hope for a good outcome of the incident. Tomorrow an 80 miles stage in and around the Mourne Mountains who will indicate the leader going in to Sundays stage. We will be there on Sunday and tomorrow we have Toby Watson as guest photographer, thisĀ  to cover us while we at the Youth Cycling Festival in Lisburn which we are grateful for. In recognition of promoting woman’s racing at the world highest level as pilot for the Irish national para cycling team, a 10th anniversary medal of the Belgian Project was given to Eve Mc Crystal tonight.
