We missed it a few years due to a date clash with the Dublin International Track GP, but at least this year we will have a report of tonight’s 1st stage and also the last stage on Sunday.Between we have a youth cycling festival at Lisburn(Maze) on Saturday, but will have photos and results of the 3day second stage to keep you updated. Newry 3 day hits the roads this weekend

Newry wheelers will promote their annual 3 day race this weekend starting on Friday night 22nd june in Warrenpoint.The racing kicks off at 7.15 from Warrenpoint and takes in 2 and a half laps of the dual carriageway before tackling the infamous Grinan road where the first points of the PKF-FPM competition will be available. The racing then heads back to Warrenpoint for laps around the town before finishing on charlotte street at approxatimetly 8.30.The stage sponsored by Plumbmaster should be fast and furious and a colourful spectacle through the town. There will be music by Soundfuction DJ to add to the party atmosphere. The first wearer of the Canal Court will also be crowned before the race heads to the mournes.
The Saturday stage sponsored by Milestone Rathfriland kicks off from Cloduff Gaa at 10.30am and takes in a testing 80 mile route which will test the riders.The race takes in 3 laps of the Hilltown,Kilcoo,Rathfriland circuit before heading to Castlewellan,Moneyslane before tackling the PKF-FPM King of the hills prime at Rathfriland,Reed Hall,Santas Cottage before the final push at Rathfriland to decide the days winner and the Canal court yellow jersey.The finish in Rathfriland should be expected at 1.30pm.
This stage will also go a long way in deciding the winners of the  Killowen Contracts Junior jersey and the Spin 11 green points jersey.
Sunday sees another tough route with 70 tough miles to tackle and the stage is sponsored by Cycling ulster.The riders will leave the Canal court at 10.30 and head to Poytnpass,Scarva,Gilford,Tandragee,Portadown,Richill,Markethill,Mountnorris,Newry before heading back to Tandragee via Mullaglass road which will see the riders tackle a new climb on this years route.The riders will then head back to Newry via Markethill and mount Norris before the finish in bessbrook at 1.15 approx.This hilly stage will see a worthy winner of the Canal court yellow jersey.
The race sees teams from all over Ireland and some of the country’s best junior riders with the likes of Adam ward from the powerhouse team among one of the favourites. Other teams to watch will be The Davy Mc Call foundation with Micheal Mc Glynn riding well  team,Phoenix CC,AAA cycling and Stamullen. Newry wheelers have a strong squad also with John Haldane winner Alan Bingham in good form and previous winner Kevin Lynch hitting good form of late.
