Saturday 11th August 2018 “The John Beggs Memorial” sign on Dromore High School ..Races start noon..After a weekend of reporting events from the comfort of my living room (due to car been fixed and now passed the MOT re-test) back on the road again. Saturday we travel to Banbridge (Dromore) for the “John Beggs Memorial Trophy” in-corperated the “Sean McGreevy Cup” for first junior in the main race. A race that is a must on our calender each year, 4 races including womens race, A4, A3 & Juniors and the main A*-A1-A2 race will fill an exciting afternoon of top Irish racing on a very demanding course, the main race and ladies race is part of the National Road Series and attracks riders from all corners of Ireland with top prize money at each race. Sunday 12th August..The Champ of Champions 25 TT promoted by Ards CC ..9.30 am start 1 mile away from my front door is Sunday’s  mornings event..A very famous Time Trial 25 miles won in the past by Chris Boardman and  ex world hour record holder Graeme Obree (The flying Schotsman). Here the info supplied by home club  www.ardscc.co.uk   >> The Champion of Champions Time Trial promoted by Ards CC takes place on Sunday 12th August.   In the past this event has attracted and Olympic Champion and World Hour record holders Chris Boardman and Graeme Obree.  Chris Boardman holds the course and event record with a time of 49:36, set in 1993. Craig McAuley of Caldwell Cycles was last year’s winner with a time of 52:56 mins. Sign on opens at 8:30am in the Londonderry Park car park in Newtownards, closes at 9:20am with the first rider off at 9:30am sharp.  A Limited Competition Licence is required as a minimum. The entry fee is £10.
