Ards Cycling Club is renowned for organising top events and yesterdays charity sportive was no difference..150 cycle lovers showed up at the Bowling Club on the Comber road for 2 distances around the famous Strangford Lough. The 80 miles had the ferry included as unique feature of the sportive with lunch in Portaferry, the 50 miles went up and down the West side of the Lough and all back at the head quarters for some soup and sarnies provided by main sponsor Homegrown (local delicatessen shop in town) Chain Reaction provided energy gels and spare tubes which was very welcomed by all. Not forgetting the other co sponsors of the race such as Arthur J. Gallagher and nr 1 carpet shop Martin Phillips of Ards. All proceeds will go to Action Mental Health NI (https://www.amh.org.uk ) – and Cruse Bereavement Care NI ( https://www.cruse.org.uk ) two very important causes in the lives of many. I went to the start but messed up my photos as camera had wrong settings, but help was at hand due to friend photographer Stephen McKee who provided feature photos and other below https://www.flickr.com/photos/smkpics/albums/72157701128075624 Well done Ards CC and a special mention to Linda Hutchinson and her crew of tea ladies who served all day the hungry and all involved to make this a successful day.
