Jimmy Duquennoy, a 23 year old neo pro died suddenly while watching TV with his girlfriend beside him on the settee last night (Friday 5th September). Jimmy was racing for  WB Aqua Protect Veranclassic, a procontinental team. His team told the press that his girlfriend Sally who he was living with was asking him something and the poor lad didn’t answer anymore..he died of a sudden heart failure with no history of heart problems in the past. His DS Frederic Amorison told the newspaper “Het Nieuwsblad” that the couple living in Wez-Velvain (Province Henegouwen) been planning a cruise holiday on the Nile this winter and being very excited about it. His team leader Brandt told the papers that Jimmy was a young man with bags of talent and a very interesting lad to talk to. He was just back from a stage race abroad (Munsterland Giro) and looked forward to the winter break of his team. He never won a race yet as a pro but got a top 10 place in the “Dwars door West Flanders” earlier this year as best result. What a waste of such young life with such a great future ahead of him. In behalf of all of us in the Belgian Project and his followers I would like to express our sincere condolences to his girlfriend Sally , his parents, family, friends and his team mates whom are devastated after hearing of Jimmy’s passing. The team was due to start Paris-Tours tomorrow and the team leader Brandt is now travelling to the team in France to discuss if they will compete in the race, or wear black bands in Jimmy’s memory. Life is so cruel. RIP Jimmy
