Junior World Champion & European Champion Remco Evenepoel (Acrog- Pauwelssauzen – Balen BC) season is coming to an end, so is wearing his WC jersey as next year becoming an neo-pro as espoir with Quickstep. The young man from Schepdaal Brabant proudly showed his colors at one of the last junior races if 2018 in Heestert West Flanders last Saturday (6/10/18). The town of Heestert most have doubled his population when the word was around that the champ was coming.. Remco was from the start very active and went with the winning break and working hard to keep away, eventually 3 riders went to the line..Fabio Van Den Bossche ( A renowned National Team Track junior from the Davo Cycling Team Limburg) beat Remco with a few bike lengths to spare in the end. Before and after the race young Remco had his hand full of signing jerseys and photo’s and maybe stealing the limelight a bit of the winner, but this is one of the privileges he has earned when becoming the champion of the world in Tirol last month. A good friend of mine Katrien Quartier (cycling photographer from Heule W-Flanders) shared a few photos of the Heestert Kermesse with us..more can be find on https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10215246722216383&type=3 Thanks Katrien, very much appreciated from all of us in cold and windy N-Ireland. Photo below Remco with his mum and biggest fan Agna.
