If there would be European tourists having a walk in Musgrave Park Belfast this coming Sunday they would be confused I bet..Seeing the Belgian tricolor and the famous Flemish Lion around the park certainly would intrigue them ! VC Glendale always had a Belgian flavour and in some corners been called “Little Belgium” with their club colours giving you already an indication as such. They even have gone a bit further this year with giving each child entry a Belgian wristband, Belgian mini flags and stickers in their goodie bag..The West Belfast club has been seen since 1981 in the Belgian National Jersey colours and known for their youth work and charity awareness events with thousands of pounds gathered over the years. This year the club is collecting money for wee Ellen a unfortunate child with cancer who needs urgent treatment in the USA to hopefully makes her better. They have already thousands collected and will add to that with a BBQ this Sunday. On the sportive side they now promote round 5 of the Cycling Ulster Cross league in Belfast City’s Musgrave Park (behind the hospital) Entries are open till Friday evening and can be done on this link https://fs27.formsite.com/CUORC/form23/index.html This is the club’s 5th year in running cyclo-cross races and this year is the return to Musgrave Park in Belfast.
