Round 7 of the Ulster CX league will be held in the beautiful surroundings of the Mourne Mountains in Newcastle County Down. The promoters Shimna Wheelers invite you all  Donard Park located at the end of Newcastle Main Street just in behind the seafront houses.  This is the third time that host club Shimna Wheelers will be holding an event at this site. The site comprises of different grass and wooded areas which will be tied in together to form the circuit. The youth courses will be set up in their own area, on the lower grass and wooded section. The main course start will be on the lower grass section by the football pitch heading along a sandy stretch, a chicane and through a fence into the race village area and across the start/finish line. Then proceed to a U turn and back onto the original course heading up into a small wooded section before turning left and climbing up towards the first pit entrance. The course will then proceed to twist and turn it’s way back towards the village and then across and up to the highest boundary of the park before diving back down again into a technical area. The course then continues to the second pit entry and on across the road to the third grass area were it will climb up and traverse the banking before meandering down to the log hurdle. Back across the road and fall into the wooded section. On exiting this section the riders will have a few long straight sections to travel bringing them back to the start area. Though this time they will swing right through the sand pit and back towards the wooded section and over the concrete base before exiting via the lower grass section through the fence again and across the finish line. Parking note: Parking in event village area is for all day parking only. We at the project will be there in full force with our photographers and also to providing the entertainment and commentary which I am looking forward to.
