Welcome Mango Bikes

The year started well here at the project with receiving news from Antrim’s unique and versatile bike builders “Mango Bikes” agreeing to become one of the co-sponsors/bursary funders in 2019 !! Met Andrew Hassard (owner) a few weeks ago in the “Pop Up Shop” in Banbridge and start talking about a possible deal..info was send and I got a very positive answer the following day “Let’s do this” and see if it works for both of us. All my sponsors believe in what we do and have the love of the bike in common, in return, we promote their work as good as we can, as we believe in their product or company to. Our goals only can be reached with ” Same minded people” and Mango Bikes certainly fits that description. Here the story of the now Ballyclare based Bicycle builder Mango Bikes, as the Fruit Sweet. The cliche goes, “no 2 days are ever the same”. Building customised bikes with millions of combinations means
the chances of 2 identical days are pretty small!

Like any story worth telling, our journey from bikes to boardroom has more than one chapter. Scroll down below and click on “Read More” to learn about the early days, recounting how a humble band of British bikers, led by Ben and Jezz, punched their way to the top to form Mango Bikes. We’ve come a long way since then, but getting here wasn’t a smooth ride. In 2017 Mango hit a bump, like those potholes that send you head-over-handlebars. It was a mix of good bikes, bad numbers, and some not-so-wise prophets. Things went a little sour, like those mangos that just don’t taste right, so it was time for a change. Instead of lounging around in defeat, we did what riders do. We got Mango back on the bike – metaphorically first, but then for real. We cycled balls-to-the-wall to blow off the steam then came back to start afresh. We relocated to Ballyclare in Northern Ireland, where we still make the same brilliant bikes, but with twice the rainfall and a nicer view. Mango is now under new ownership, but we’re still the same tasty brand, with the same passion, and most importantly the same great bikes – but with a story to rival Shakespeare. Drop by our showroom to hear it in person (and buy a bike so we can pay the rent). Keep ‘er lit,
Andrew & the team Mango Bikes
