Last Sunday (26th May) we had an interview with Dr Fred MacSorley MBE, a man I admire, this for his work as para-medic in motorbike racing and cycling events over the years. Fred explains the benefits, the quality of life improvement, and life-saving work the NI Air Ambulance that it brings to N-Ireland and the equivalent in other countries. Fred is also an enthusiastic cyclocross competitor in the master’s cats and member of Apollo CC in his home town of Lurgan where he has his doctor practise. The feature photo is with his son Alistair who was a top MTB’er before his accident that left him wheelchair bound. We took the opportunity to award Dr Fred the Belgian Project Gold medal for his lifetime work in the different sports as motorbike paramedic and the impact he had in our beloved sport.
