A Message from Bernard

Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts. Only getting recent messages today. Isabelle keeping me well away from smartphones and iPads! As you all probably know, I had a cardiac arrest Wed 19 evening while Isabelle and I were taking part in the tandem and vintage cycle event at Ard’s CC town races. I am hugely indebted to St John’s Ambulance and to Ards CC (and Gareth Murray for making sure they are available at all our organised events) – they had a defibrillator and trained staff to give CPR on the spot. Thanks too, to everybody who helped me and Isabelle on Wednesday evening and in the days following. I had a stent inserted at the RVH Friday. Now at the Ulster recuperating. Feeling a lot better and hoping to get home this Friday. Isabelle taking good care of me. Good to have survived this and to be able to enjoy the good wishes. Looking forward to getting out on the bike again with you all in due course. Many thanks again. B

UNSUNG HERO ALERT!!
Last Wednesdays Criterium event in Newtownards, our newest recruit Calum was due to compete.
Unfortunately a medical emergency unfolded which caused the event to ultimately be abandoned.
Calum and his other half, who are both medical professionals both sprung into action to provide essential treatment until an ambulance arrived on scene.
Thank you both from everyone who was there that night.
A pair of stars!!
