Foreword: ” I know Bryan Mc Crystal from his racing days and can call him a good friend, a man with a vision to educate, steer and encourage our youth to get on a bike and enjoy our beloved sport, and provider of a venue to do so…Hidden in the valley of the Cooley Mountains, not far from Dundalk and Newry is Jenkinstown…a sleepy little village who was wakened yesterday by the CX caravan…over hundred kids, add another hundred seniors, a challenging course and you have the script for a successful event. Amble parking.. separate parking for the team vans and gazebo’s close to the pits…a shop to get provisions…a big barn as HQ and a course that gets better and better as each month passes…Designed by Mark Harvey (VC Glendale Academy) and build by Bryan and friends, they also ask feedback of the riders to perfect the course if possible…And when you have Eve Mc Crystal, Bryan’s sister and Bellurgan team member as backup, it promotes big time…Eve has taken off some time after nearly 5 years of high-level racing and training, the Paralympic golden tandem pilot, and current World champs with Katie-George Dunlevy, and also ex Irish Road Champion and track star needs a break before concentrating on the word champs and Paris 2024…she told me that she also enjoys a drink and the right time for it now out of training, but most of all looking forward to enjoying her family as a mother…Eve said she wanted for a long time to ring the last lap bell, and her dream came true..lol..ringing she did…If ever the saying that hard work pays off is true…well it is defiantly the case in Jenkinstown…so well done to all involved, too many to call, you know who you are, I do and appreciate such effort to make this all possible” yours in sport, Dany B
