One of the days you feel proud to be involved in Irish Cycling, as we had a caring, and emotional family day in Louth, this to celebrate Sean Sharkey’s life!! Thousands of Euro’s have been raised again in aid of the Maria Goretti Foundation, the amazing respite house, which Sean loved so much!! (Mc Crystal’s Cycling Track Jenkinstown on Sunday 21st Jan)

Feature collage & and podium photos Damian Faulkner as indicated, others BP Media. Results courtesy of Mc Crystal’s Cycling Track (Bryan) with thanks to both!!

Foreword Dany B: How do you describe a day like yesterday I ask myself? Weather wise a bit cold, a storm was brewing, a few wet paths, but mostly dry! Due to the occasion of this 3rd Memorial race to celebrate Sean’s life, a caring and loving atmosphere was felt, the field included many Irish CX Champs who only one week ago crowned in Limerick present, and over 70 crossers from young age till pension age competing, the mood was very cheerfully, but also emotional at times. When Sean’s younger sister Aoibhinn crossed the finish line with tears in her eyes, my voice as commentator went quiet, it gripped us all. But we had some great laughs to!! Enda Baker (Breffni Wheelers & photo below) winning electric curls, even he has not a hair on his head had the crowd in stitches!! Prize winners below (prizes will be send to the winners if not collected at the venue) How much was raised we don’t know yet, but it will be in the thousands again as the 2 previous editions, which is wonderful news, and a belt underneath our hearts… I was honoured to be the MC of the event, and we all felt something you can not buy in a shop…Love and Care!!! Ps. Big thank you to Bryan Mc Crystal and family to provide the venue, the comm’s Elisabeth Roche, Martin Grimley and Jim Adams for helping out, the Red Cross and Civil Defence, the photographers Damian Faulkner and John Hammer, Jerome Mc Namara, Last Lap cafe, all sponsors of the raffle (see below photos) and all volunteers & competitors, without you this would not happen!!
