Banbridge Cycling Club are excited to launch the 2024 Cycling Ireland National Criterium Championships on the evening of Friday 10th May in Banbridge, Co Down. The event will utilise the hugely popular town centre 1km circuit, starting and finishing on Banbridge town’s main high street, with a technically challenging, fast paced course with full road closures. Both the Women’s and Men’s (open) national championship races will also incorporate Ulster Championship status, with two sets of medals being awarded per race and both being allocated equal race time on the evening. The women’s championship race will commence at 18:45 with 2 hot spot prime sprints at 15 and 30 minutes and total race time of approx. 1 hour. The men’s (open) championship race will follow the same format, commencing at 20:00. Keeping the fast-paced action of crit racing in an accessible town centre where it belongs, spectators will have the benefit of race announcer and MC Pat ‘Shocks’ O’Shoughnessy who always does a tremendous job at keeping the crowd informed and entertained, and whipping up an atmosphere for the competitors. With the short 1km circuit the action is close up and continuous, as the front riders complete each lap approximately every 90 seconds. Entry for the racing is strictly pre-registration via the EventMaster CI portal only and is open now on: https://eventmaster.ie/event/7KAGcyeFdv In line with technical regulations for Cycling Ireland national championships, registration is restricted to riders with an IRL nationality licence code and will remain open no later than Friday 3rd May at 18:30.
