What’s on in September on our roads? (Sun 1st Sept-Sun 22nd Sept) The road season is nearly finished, some provincial champs this Sunday, Ras Na mBan next week, and some charity sportives…CX is now on the horizon, which from next week we will concentrate on, it never stops for us, and greatly so!!

We are excited to open the registration for the Ulster Championship Road Race being held on 1st September 2024.
Race 1 @09:00 M50/60/70/Women (6 laps, 70km)
Race 2 @11:00: A1/2/3/JM (9 laps, 105km).
Race 3 @11:03: M40 (8 laps, 94km).

Tour of Strangford Charity Sportive in aid of Air Ambulance NI
Choice of 50 & 80 mile circuits of the scenic Ards Peninsula and Strangford Lough.
Starting at Ards Bowling Club (70 South Street, N’ards), lunch will be provided in Portaferry and refreshments on return to the Bowling Club. Sign-on from 8:30am (pre-registration essential).

Tour of South Derry Sunday 8 September 2024, once again the chosen charity this year is NI Cancer Fund for Children. Gabrielle was a talented cyclist who was tragically killed on the roads last year, while doing what she loved. Honour her memory on this cycle with 2 beautiful routes along the Copper Coast in Waterford. Everybody welcome, there appears to have been some confusion that it’s a women’s only event, this is not the case!!

PreviousThe 2024 “Armagh City Cyclist Races” this Sunday 25th August at the Navan Centre Armagh. A terrible morning weather wise, and both races ended up in a bunch sprint. They looked like Cyclo-crossers at the end!! Well done to Niall Daly (Armagh City Cyclist) in the A3 race, and Hugh Bonner (Four Masters) in the A4 race!!
NextStage races still alive in Munster!! Here the provincial start list of the ” 2024 Charleville 2-day” which will be held next weekend in the County Cork town of Charleville (Sat 8th-Sun 9th September) + adjusted timetable due to a tractor, and motor event on the circuit for stage 2-3!!

The 2024 “Tour of Burgos” (Women’s stage race Spain) Lucinda Brand and Ilaria Sanguineti (LIDL-TREK) stopping for fallen teammate Elisa Balsamo at a crash within 100 meters from the finish line, but UCI shows no mercy with a 3 minute penalty!! “We followed our human instinct” this caring women told the media. My thoughts: I know rules are rules, but come on….have a bit of mercy please!! Megan Armitage safely in at the same time as winner HENTTALA Lotta Henttala-EF Education-Cannondale!
