“We are a small country, but every weekend we see 600 participants in different cyclocross races” says CEO Sport Ireland’s Una May to the Belgian TV station Sporza! Race organiser Chris Mannaerts (Bel) also told Sporza “It has rained a lot in recent weeks, which makes the course extremely difficult. The men with power in their legs will be able to make the difference”

“It is a travesty that there is a list of ‘pro cyclists who died during a race” You have not been able to win the battle of your life, it’s so cynical, Gino: the battle for your life wouldn’t even have been there with a little more attention to safety” Ex-women pro cyclist, and now journalist Marijn de Vries (NL) criticise and pleads to the UCI for safer finals in UCI approved races, this after another tragic death!! Rest in Peace Gino Mader (Bahrain-Victorious)
