Craig was a very popular racer in our community, 11 times “Man of the Ras” ex-international, and ex Irish Master Champion a few years ago. What can I say…last week we met at the Junior Tour in Ennis, was injured and arm in a sling, but in great form as his oldest son Toby was racing with the national Irish team, his wife Gilly and son Tyler there also to support Toby (who incidentally won a stage the day later) Life can take such a cruel turn, this week I am writing his obituary with a tear in my eyes, as growing old has not be given to this gentleman, always a friendly word and a smile!! Met Craig around 2008, and we became good friends, even won the Tour of Connemara with him, as last minute call up to drive the Stamullen CC team car for 2 stages, as they travelled with it, but needed someone to drive it…later he introduced his son Toby is one of the best juniors in Ireland for the moment…he was so proud of him stepping in his foot steps in our beloved sport. My heart breaks thinking of his Gilly, and his sons Toby and Tyler, life can be so unfair…In behalf of the family Blondeel -Mc Namara, the Belgian Project and his sponsors, our sincere condolences to his close family and friends….RIP Craig
