Lisa Brennauer has won the time trial in the Madrid Challenge on Saturday. The German from Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling also takes over the leader’s jersey from Lorena Wiebes. It was Mieke Kröger who set the first target time with 13’01 “in the 9.3 km time trial in Boadilla del Monte. Leah Kirchmann was the first to go under 13 minutes with 12’54”, but she would not sit on the hot seat. The Italian Elisa Longo Borghini cycled to a blast time and completed the course 13 seconds faster: 12’41 “. Annemiek van Vleuten, a two-time world champion against the clock, bit her teeth on Longo Borghini’s Chrono and gave up 7 seconds. Four-time European time trial champion Ellen van Dijk also had to fold. She got stuck at 3 seconds from her Italian teammate. The only one who still got under Borghini’s Chrono was the German Lisa Brennauer. With 12’40 “she was one second faster than Longo Borghini, who lost 10 seconds to Brennauer in the general classification.
