The Irish Cycling fraternity got some terrible news this morning…Craig Sweetman (Stamullen CC) passed away this morning suddenly at a to young age of 52. Craig was a very popular racer in our community, 11 times “Man of the Ras” ex-international, and ex Irish Master Champion a few years ago. He leaves his wife Gilly, and his two sons Toby and Tyler behind…may Craig Rest in Peace…

The smile of Ludo Dierckxsen is no more!! Peoples cycling hero Ludo Dierckxsens was best known for winning the 11th stage of the 1999 Tour de France, and was the Belgian Champion of 1999! Ludo collapsed during a 1000 km bike ride in aid of the cancer charity “Kom op tegen Kanker” on 29 May 2025 in Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde. The para medic’s couldn’t revive him, Ludo passed away on the road.
