Message from the organisers “Folks, following on from government announcement basically we know what you know! From what we can interpret Spectator gatherings are gone, and that is what we had in our updated rules covering COVID anyway, we are asking that NO SPECTATORS or ONLOOKERS gather around the start/finish, support your rider out on the 555km course somewhere, sports itself is still on at this moment, and ours will be classed as a time trial with small teams going off at significant time gaps (3-minute gaps) but we will have to follow Cycling Ireland guidance on whatever they interpret from any further government announcements”
Conor Dunne of GCN has confirmed his place in the 2020 Donegal Ultra 555.
We are really excited and so looking forward to this year’s event as GCN Irish presenter and ex Professional cyclist Conor Dunne has confirmed he will be”having a go” in the hills of Donegal come August 28th,
A warm welcome awaits you Conor.
Message to all teams “following a Zoom meeting we have decided to CANCEL all FLYING EXCHANGES between riders at all times, there is just no way to safely pass the Tracking device from rider to rider or rider to team car and onto the next rider. So ALL teams will have to momentarily stop, the rider taking over can be waiting, ready, ‘Rider taking over MUST be completely stationary with at least one foot on the ground until they have received the cleaned tracker’ a designated person takes the device out of the rider stops, and with their disposable gloves on, wipe with sterile wipes and drops it into the back pocket of the next rider and you are on your way. These decisions are made for everyone’s safety folks and we also remind you that if you drop and break the tracking device it is the team that is responsible for replacement cost. We insist that the device remains on the rider on the road at all times” Thank you.
