Tour of Alps stage 1: Gianni Moscon (Ineos-Grenadiers) sneaked away and held off the chasing peloton with the skin of his teeth. Dan Martin and Nicolas Roche finished at the same time as the winner

45th Tour of the Alps (2.Pro) Stage 1: Brixen >> Innsbruck (140.6km)

INEOS Grenadiers‘ Gianni Moscon took the  “Tour of the Alps” opening stage, thanks to a late attack launched with 3 km to go. The Italian rider preceded on the finish line Idar Andersen (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) who bridged the distance to Moscon but had no more to sprint, Alexandr Riabushenko (UAE-Team Emirates) taking 3rd in front of the chasing bunch.

Dan Martin told his Twitter followers >> All the new rules @UCI_cycling is creating with the excuse of making racing safer and they forget the basics. Parked cars all over the place in the final of a ‘sprint’ stage. They will claim they don’t have responsibility. One of scariest finishes I’ve done for a while.
