Cycling Ulsters Chairman Tommy Mc Cague told social media: The Ulster Road Championships – A Cycling Ulster Success Story

“On Behalf of the Cycling Ulster Executive, I want to pass on congratulations and my sincere thanks to Island Wheelers Cycling Club who today hosted a very successful Ulster Championship Road Race. As you all know, our 2020 Ulster Championship Race did not go ahead and we had a lot of difficulties finding a host for the 2021 Race but a Coffee with Race Director, Robbie Silcock & James McLaughlin was all it took to light the spark.
From a personal perspective, it was very important for me to see the Championships go ahead in what is my final year as Chairman of Cycling Ulster. I would like to thank the Executive for their continued support and especially our organising committee of, Aaron Wallace, Patrick Withers, Jim Kelly, James McLaughlin, and Robbie Silcock.
The race was a success story of the strength and depth of Cycling in Ulster, not just the riders but the many Volunteers that we have across the province. In particular, I would like to thank the members of the following Clubs who stepped up and offered their help – the race could not have been organised without the help of you all:
Island Wheelers Foyle Cycling Club, North Pole Cycling Club, Emyvale Cycling Club, East Tyrone Cycling ClubVelocity – Portadown, Armagh City Cyclists and Clann Eireann. To the riders, Congratulations to all of the medallists, I hope you found the course challenging and enjoyable and I would like to wish you all continued success for the remainder of the season. We also had one incident on the course and I would like to wish the fallen rider a speedy recovery.
Thanks again to Robbie &
the Team at today’s Ulster Champs.”
