Rás na mBan is the premier women’s cycling event in Ireland. In its current format, it runs for five days with a total of six stages to a total of over 400km of racing action. For 2021 the event will be headquartered for the fifth time in County Kilkenny in south Leinster. The event is promoted by the Rás na mBan Organising Committee under the auspices of Cycling Ireland. After an enforced gap in 2020, the 2021 edition of the race is the 15th edition of the event in its current guise and marks 35 years of women’s international stage racing in Ireland.

Enjoy a great day out with Ards Cycling Club on our annual charity fundraiser sportive (In aid of the Samaritans of North Down & Bangor) with a choice of routes
around the Ards Peninsula and Strangford Lough. Starting at Londonderry Park, Newtownards, the 80-mile route travels south along the west shore of the lough to Strangford, then a short hop by ferry to Portaferry where lunch will be available. The 50-mile route stays on the Ards Peninsula before returning to Newtownards following lunch in Portaferry.

Some event reminders of the coming week
Dromara CC will be hosting the 5th annual Slieve Croob Hill Climb Challenge on Saturday 18th September 2021. This open hill climb competition offers entrants a chance to test themselves against one of the toughest road climbs in Ireland. The road climb follows the public road up Dree Hill then takes the private tarmac path up to the summit of Slieve Croob. E-bikes are welcome but would not be eligible for prizes.
