Deirdre is a member of Carn Wheelers Cycling Club, a Community Bike Leader, a Women in Sport Advocate for 2022 and ITโS NOT A RACE* Ambassador. Deirdre tells us what she loves about cycling-
โFor me, cycling is all about friendship, fitness, fresh air and fun. Iโve always had a bike and enjoyed cycling. In 2017, I joined Carn Wheelers Cycling Club after recovering from a difficult year of illness. Since then, Iโve enjoyed new friendships, experiences and getting fitter in body and mind.
Road cycling is my main discipline and I set up a ladies cycling group within my club in 2021 and was appointed as one of the Cycling Ireland Women in Sport Advocates for 2022.This lead to my involvement in the ITโS NOT A RACE* campaign and I am privileged to be able to encourage and support female participation in cycling in my local area and to share my love of cycling and all its benefits.
