On Friday 10th May, Banbridge Cycle Club will host the 2024 “Irish Criterium Championship” incorporating the “Ulster Criterium Championships” and promoted by Cycling Ireland & Cycling Ulster, this in Banbridge City Centre (closed circuit) 7pm start…here the provisional entries!!

Race 1: Women’s Criterium National Championship 19:00 (Duration: 50 mins + 3 laps
2 prime laps @ approx. 15 & 30 minutes. Cash prizes)

Race 2 – Men Open Criterium National Championships (Duration: 50 mins + 3 laps +2 prime laps @ approx. 15 & 30 minutes. Cash prizes. Prime lap prizes kindly sponsored by Mc Cabrey’s Cycles, Lurgan +44 (0) 28 3832 5720

The ‘open’ Championship race is open to athletes holding an A+, A1, A2, A3
and Jr licences issued by Cycling Ireland with an ‘IRL’ UCI nationality code or
members of a similar standard belonging to UCI affiliated federations with an
‘IRL’ code on their licence. The Women’s Championship race is open to female
senior and junior licence holders with an ‘IRL’ UCI nationality code.

Both National Championship races will also incorporate the Ulster Criterium Championships,

Top 3 riders – Cycling Ulster Provincial Championship Medals; Gold, Silver, Bronze
Top 3 juniors – Cycling Ulster Provincial Championship Medals; Gold, Silver, Bronze
Team Prize – Cycling Ulster Provincial Championship Medals will be awarded to the
first Team/Club based in Ulster with 3 finishers.
Eligibility Criteria for individual Cycling Ulster medals
CI Licence holders satisfying one of the following criteria will be eligible for the Ulster
Championships notwithstanding, a rider may only compete in one set of Provincial
Championships in any one season.
(a) Belonging to a club / team based in the Province;
(b) Unattached and resident in the Province;
(c) Residency in the Province;
(d) Belonging to a club / team based outside Ireland but,
1) Immediate past address was in the Province or
2) Most previous Irish club / team was based in the Province.

NextA country road criterium in the beautiful surroundings of Armagh took place yesterday evening (Wed 8th May) hosted by Orchard CC! “The 2024 Armagh Criterium” witnessed the strength of another remarkable junior called Conor Murphy (Caldwell Cycles) who won with ease, lapping the full field, it was a race for second place basically!!
