I always make a point of attending the AGM’s in our sport, it is the only place where change can happen, social media outlets can not provide this. Representing my home club Ards CC (for many years now and always the company of other Ards CC member Colin Wilson) and my project off course. The CU Chairman opened the meeting with a minute silence for the ones who passed away this year and welcomed all delegates and executive members, including a delegation of the main federation CI which included the President Ciaran Mc Kenna, New CEO Matt McKerrow and Ronan Mc Laughlin. Today was the quickest meeting I ever have been to, seems like the 20 + delegates including myself had no objections to what was proposed, a few questions were raised at different topics but generally, proceedings went swiftly. Executive board members Carl Fullerton and Maurice Mc Allister resigned from the CU executive board as from this date, and our chairman Tommy McCague thanked them for their enormous work behind the scenes and wish them both good luck in the future. Claire Young from the CU women’s commission was appointed as secretary, Claire was un-opposed as the only person been nominated. Tommy Lamb (ex-chairman CU & Phoenix CC) and Dylan Lyness (Apollo CC) had neither opposition to their appointment as officers to the Executive. The finances of CU are healthy, the upward trend of women joining the ranks very promising, this to projects like “Woman on Wheels” which will introduce workshops in the next few months to further their skills…they have partnered with Panache Coaching (Ronan Mc Laughlin) to get well-informed advice and new skills… The “woman on wheels” also got a recognition nomination from Sport NI, this for their valuable contribution towards getting women on bikes so to speak
