A hilly stage with an uphill finish…not something Sam Bennett loves, but as we have seen in Derry at the Irish Champs last year he sometimes can…not this morning I am afraid, still well-positioned with 200meters, he raised off the saddle and in his own words…”There was nothing there to find” With tomorrow’s climber stage, we probably won’t see Sam up front, but with more sprinter stages to come from Friday, he feels confident that there are some good days to come!! But what a finish of Caleb Ewan of Lotto Soudal, coming from the back of a 25 man strong front group (the peloton had a crash with 1400meters to go and was split) and just motored on the big ring to an impressive win (his second this week with winning the Crit in Adelaide Sunday) Lotto 2 – Quickstep 1
