A great result for young Darren, being already one of the fastest TT riders in France with numerous wins, and on the homefront in Ireland. The homegrown youngster from Island Wheelers (Dungannon) and plying his trade in France with “Team 31 jolly cycles U19” now proves he is ready for a step higher on the ladder of success. Just missing out on a medal in 4th place today (2 seconds away from it) may be a bit disappointing for the lad being so close, but hey…52 of the best juniors in Europe at the start!!! That’s how fast Darren is, and only 18…I would not be surprised at all if some pro-team or teams getting a big interest in our junior who becomes an Espoir next year. Team Ireland got another junior in the race…Conal Scully who managed a respectable 21st place…not a bad start for the Green Team!
