POINT RACE: Ending the championships on a high Gillespie finished third in the Women’s Points Race, claiming her first ever senior championship medal. This result adds to her success from earlier in the week when the Co. Wicklow rider recorded three top ten placings at the championships.Victory went to Leth (Den) on a final score of 43pts, Kopecky (BEL) was second on 40pts and Gillespie completed the podium on 39pts.
INDIVIDUAL PURSUIT: Making her senior championship debut, but no stranger to wearing the green jersey, was Lucy Bénézet Minns in the Individual Pursuit, Lucy achieved a solid 16th place finish in the event
MADISON; Danish riders Julie Leth and Amalie Dideriksen taking the rainbow stripes in their home velodrome. French pairing Victoire Bertreau and Marion Borras took second, with Great Britain’s Neah Evans and Katie Archibald rounding out the podium,Griffin and Gillespie managed to finish 7th
Gillespie remained the top ten after an eighth place finish in the Elimination Race (Omnium)
ELIMINATION RACE: (Devil’s Tail) Strong riding throughout saw Gillespie make it into the final five with some of the worlds best. The 2021 World Champion, Letizia Paternoster, finished fourth for Italy. For the fourth consecutive year, Valente claimed bronze.
