I met Quinton in 2012 for the first time when he was working for Decca Belgium (sportswear) on one of my visits to Belgium to sort out the guest families of the project. He got me a tour of the factory, and we had lunch in the Ronde van Vlaanderen Centre Museum and we stroke a sponsor deal for 2013 with generous providing the “5th Anniversary Jersey” of the Belgian Project composite teams, and always grateful for his support. We lost a bit contact, till his friend Ken Jones (Bioracer.UK) started sponsoring the project in 2018 and we became part of the Bioracer family, which Quinton now was working for (Bioracer motion) He is originally from South Africa, but lives already a long time in Geraardsbergen Belgium near the Flanders Classic routes. Hence his dream of having a unique B&B near the route to the Muur. Here the story…

Over the last year or so we have been building a family-friendly B&B in the Belgian countryside, near one of the all-time classic cobbled Belgian climbs – the Muur of Geraardsbergen. We are also less than 25km from Paira Daiza, one of the best zoological parks in Europe, and many other parks and attractions in the countryside. We are literally weeks away from opening and the current situation has led to all our fixed bookings being cancelled. We would like to launch a campaign to let our friends and potential customers still reserve days with us – but not yet have to give fixed dates… It really is that simple, “we’ve built our dream, and all we are missing is you!”…

Quinton and his wife Griet had a dream to open a family-friendly B&B for our worldwide friends and guests, in the heart of the Flemish countryside…Over the past year, we have built and partly renovated a new “home from home” for all of you!!.. Now we just need YOU to make it all come to life… Come and share our home, and the Flemish lifestyle, with us!! More info on https://www.ulule.com/akrenbos-101-all-we-need-is-you

In addition, Quinton told the Belgian Project ” We also have vehicles for those guests to use, and can arrange collection and drop off at airports or train stations indeed.. we have contacts with all the local bike shops and can arrange bike hire for guests who do not wish to bring their own bikes.. the b&b has a secured double garage for bike store and workshop, and we will stock bioracer kit, gels and cookies, tyres and tubes too…we can help co-ordinate visits to all the local attractions for non-cycling partners or guests.. everything from day trips to Pairi Daiza, Brussels, Gent, Lille etc etc..anyone you think may be interested in coming to visit us at some point once the madness is over?.. someone in the industry who wants to do a weekend trip to reward their staff?.. launching a new product?.. hosting journalists?.. maybe as simple as just getting away with family and friends in the Belgian countryside?.. or best of all, just coming to hang out with us, plunder the beer, a loaf with us, and chill TFO...I am an honourable member of the “Mannekin pis society” too.. .. the REAL one comes from our local village, he’s been there since the 1480s.. the Brussels guys nicked the idea…

We wish Griet and Quinton lots of success and surely here in Ireland, you will find customers for such a unique stay in the holy land of cycling called The Flanders
