An Irish Junior Champ overlooked by the selectors of the National CI Team, went to Belgium that summer (2018) and won many kermesses to answer them in a sportive way, their loss so to speak. I was there at some point when he raced, this to support some of my graduates and any other Irish rider for that matter (Adam was in Belgium on his own steam as a Powerhouse Sport rider, and not a selection of the project, but stayed with the BP guest parents Sabien and Rik) I was standing near the finish line having the mandatory beer, and overheard some Belgian junior supporters saying to each other after Adam passed the pub ** Verdomme (Flemish equivalent to feck) that’s racing for second place, the Irish are here** I had a big smile on my face that day, to me it was a compliment to all the Irish lads racing there!! Even I was not involved with Adam being there it made me proud nevertheless…When we had the interview with him earlier in Newry, he mentioned Belgium and a possible win and he did exactly that…3 times over and many podiums to!! (My excuses for the way I was talking in the interview, broke a part denture at the reception, and a challenge to talk properly..lol) Video David mc Veigh BP Media
