The Trail Map back to Racing!
2020 has been a rough ride for all of us. The trail has been up and down with uncertainty lying around every corner. Every single one of us has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and our everyday life will change forever. There have been lots of positives to take from the past few months and I believe we will all value things differently and how we live our lives. Thankfully now, we have climbed the mountain, taken in the views and the trail is pointing downhill!
The Cycling Ireland road map plans to allow off-road racing return from the 10th of August. Awesome news as I think everyone is itching to get back at it. As expected there will be changes though. The focus has always been to have a blast while riding our bikes with friends in a safe environment. Now more than ever we must focus on keeping everyone safe!
The team at the Vitus First Tracks Enduro has been working hard to make what is left of the 2020 season one to remember! We have gone back to the drawing board and designed an event that offers better safety and flexibility whilst at the same time being mega fun!
Some of the new event guidelines are still unclear so we have put a limit of 250 at each round. This is based on a “first come first served basis”. We may increase this and we may also be forced to reduce the numbers. Our advice is to enter early. sientries.co.uk/event.php?event_id=7261 The series will have 4 rounds over 2 weekends of racing. Each day comprising of a non-compulsory practice session in the morning and racing in the afternoon. 3 or 4 stages each day that we will mix up before the next day’s racing to give it a different feel and keep us on our toes! Best 3 out of 4 to count for the series. There is an entry fee increase to allow for the additional medical cover, PPE and timing costs, etc. I hope you understand but this is something we have to allow for. Riders have the option to race one day of the weekend or a cheaper rate for racing both days. Categories are the same as before but we will all pay the same price due to the reduced stages. As you would expect there will be other changes to our normal schedule, set up and rules. We will just have to work through the current Government/ Cycling Ireland guidelines at the time. Riders must hold a current Cycling Ireland race license (or equivalent) or purchase a one day license.
