Some sad news received yesterday (Wednesday 9th September) with the passing of Debbie Barclay (nee Kane) daughter of Dave Kane (ex-international and bike shop owner in East Belfast) and sister of Mark and Paul Kane, a very well know cycling family in Northern Ireland and further afield. Debbie was herself a multiple Irish Champ on the road and TT’s in the eighties and represented Ireland in the world champs in 1985. An accident ended her career in cycling unfortunately and wheelchair-bound since then. If that was not enough cancer took hold of her in the last decade, another blow to deal with, but anyone who knew Debbie or met her will say the same…Always smiling and encouraging others to do well…I am glad I have known her, always had a kind word ready, someone, who inspires you…My deepest and sincere sympathies to the Family Barclay and Kane, her friends and teammates of Northern Dave Kane CT…may Debbie rest in peace
