Freddy told us “The organization of the race Cycling Klein Brabant was very satisfied: 158 riders!! which can cause problems in terms of safety, but a novelty, the so-called safety totems, which produce noise when the riders pass, prevented a single crash. Many attacks of course with such a large number of riders, but very difficult for real breakaways. However, Alice Sharpe could attack in the second round, but against such a big gang it was impossible. She was able to resist for a while, was joined by 4 other riders, but soon this attempt was condemned. A second attack by 2 other riders looked better, max 35 seconds, but everything came back together and we headed for a mass sprint where the talented Belgian 2nd year junior Marith Vanhove (17 years old!) left everyone behind. The result of the Irish riders: 11th Alice Sharpe (Ciclotel) 31st Mia Griffin (Illi-bikes) 37th Michelle Geoghegan (Un-attached) and 59th Imogen Cotter (Keukens Redant), yours in sport Freddy Jansegers
Voor onze Vlaamse lezers, Freddy verteld ons “De organisatie van deze wedstrijd was zeer tevreden: 158 renners, die voor problemen kunnen zorgen op het gebied van veiligheid, maar een noviliteit, de zogenaamde veiligheids totems, die geluid produceren als de renners passeren, voorkwamen crashes. Veel aanvallen natuurlijk met zo veel renners, maar erg moeilijk voor echte ontsnappingen. Alice Sharpe (Ierse Kampioen 2019) kon echter in de tweede ronde aanvallen, maar tegen zo’n grote bende was het onmogelijk. Ze kon zich een tijdje verzetten, kreeg gezelschap van 4 andere renners, maar al snel werd deze poging veroordeeld. Een tweede aanval van 2 andere renners zag er beter uit, max 35 seconden, maar alles kwam weer samen en we gingen op weg naar een massasprint waar de getalenteerde Belgische 2e jaars junior Marith Vanhove (17 jaar oud!) Iedereen achter zich liet.
