So well done Ella to our new Irish Junior Champ 2020

Day 2 was again an early starter with the Junior girls taking off 5 minutes behind the elite women (which we will report on tomorrow in the last part of the Nationals reports) and after 1 lap of 3 of the 20km course (a different course which the men took in opposite direction), 7 girls separate themselves as the other 3 girls had to let go due to mechanical troubles or just not the legs on the day. Many attacks followed, Lucy O’Donnell got away for a bit but hauled back, and in the last lap on the ascend to the Knockaderry Village 5 girls seem to go for the win after shaking off the two TC racing duo Maria Mc Allister and Faith Hilliard on the climb. The very fast Ella Doherty from the Greenmount CA (photo above) got the better of Caoimhe O’ Brien of Torelli and Dungarvan’s Elia Tutty taking the last medal. Lucy came 4th a few seconds later, so did Ciara Kelly from the Donegal North Pole club in 5th place. Tom Clogher 2 girls finished only a minute away and can hold they head high as they have been upfront for most of the race distance of 60km.

You can just see in their eyes they love what they doing
