61st “De Brabantse Pijl” (1.Pro Men) One day race: Leuven >> Overijse (201.7km)

21-year-old neo-pro Tom Pidcock (Ineos-Grenadiers) has won the “Brabantse Pijl” remounting the favourite Wout Van Aert just before the finish line, Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) started from afar, but he was surprisingly overtaken by the in-form British youngster. Matteo Trentin (UAE) was 3rd, he was the one who instigated the winning break. The chasers came close but the 3 up-front just had too much power! A very notable Eddie Dunbar (Ineos-Grenadiers) with even an attack on one of the many hills around the Brussels countryside, Wouter Van Aert had to chase to get him back…and that says something about the Irishman status…I hope Eddie will get a chance to be selected for one of the main world tours, as he has been showing his value as a team worker for Ineos.

Eddie testing the waters… alert for the favourites

6th Brabantse Pijl Women (UCI W1.1) One day race: Lennik >> Overijse (127.3km)

The Brabantse Pijl among the women has ended in a thriller. Demi Vollering (SD Worx) seemed to control the sprint of the six girls break and put her hand up at the finish line, but her joy was soon over as the USA national champ Ruth Winder got the verdict after the finish photo showed the minimal difference in favour of Ruth…With the naked eye, it was not possible to see who won and feel a bit sorry for the dutch girl…but hey…never over till the f…lady sings comes to mind! Alice Sharp (Rupelcleaning) finished 55th about 2m21s down, Mia Griffin her teammate did not finish the race.
