Spellman-Dublin Port’s report of day 1 >>> A busy day in Ghent as the Belgian Open Track meeting 2021 kicked off with Claire Faber and Rylee McMullen – Cyclist riding in the scratch and points race qualifiers. The racing was full gas from the gun with a world-class field of former and current world and Olympic champions stretching their legs. Claire and Rylee rode well to keep the pace and put in some early attacks but unfortunately finished just outside the qualification spots.
On to the ladies madison and again the qualifiers were a fast a hectic affair with early attacks, attempted lap gains, and close changes. With Claire and Rylee as a new madison pairing, this was a stern test but they came through with flying colours to finish in 5th spot to qualify for the final tomorrow <<<
