The Tour of the Alps had its final chord today in the Piazza Garibaldi in Riva del Garda. The short, but tough stage with many vertical meters provided a good spectacle. The race exploded 44 km from the finish when a group of 6 riders took to the open sea with Dan Martin and Nicolas Roche included. The peloton gave chase, but before the escapees were caught, Felix Grossschartner (Bora-Hansgrohe) took off alone. Nicolas Roche and De Marchi Alessandro refused to be caught as survivors of the break and kept the chasers around the 6 seconds for the last 10km and succeeded! The Austrian ahead of Nico held on to the finish line and achieved his 4th victory in his career. Grossschartner posed no danger to Simon Yates in the general classification.
