The second weekend in a row we visited the County Meath and Navan area…and well worth the drive from the North (Newtownards) This time for the 2021 Waller Cup races in Bohermeen. I was told that this race exists since 1937 and is one of the oldest classic’s in Ireland. The weather would have made Spain jealous, 27 degrees Celcius and a wee breeze…The Leinster club Bohermeen CC knows what they are doing, the restriction carefully followed with waves of racing and a split to morning and afternoon racing. The morning started with underage races (Under 12-14-16) the A4 race, and the women’s only race, a big break to let them go home and to welcome the afternoon competitors for the A1-A2 race followed by the A3 & Junior Race. A big field near the start and finish as race headquarters was just perfect for keeping the cars away from the circuit. The Civil Defence provided the ambulance and road safety assistance. An army of marshals and volunteers from the local club’s made it very safe around. Here below are the results and some photos (more photos can be found on https://www.facebook.com/danyblondeel ) Well done Bohermeen CC…we will be back next year all going well!!
