Ellen is in fine form with a podium (3rd) in a UCI 1.15 criterium in Boezinge West Flanders (photo above courtesy of Paul Hinninck) last week and another podium (3rd) in the big interclub in Leefdaal (Brabant) past weekend This followed some respectable results such as 7th in Vrasene, a 12th in Bambrugge, and a fantastique 8th in the final stage of the Baloise ladies Tour (European Tour) earlier in JulySo well done Ellen!!x

I feel for Megan, after the last time she was up the road solo going for the win and sent wrongly of the course, some mechanicals and now another solo run come to an end so close to the finish line. The Offaly girl was racing 8km from my old home in Zeebrugge (Dudzele-Brugge) and was in several breaks before her solo attack in the penultimate lap…and caught with maybe 300 meters to go… one day it has to work I am sure!! The balsam on her mental wounds was taking a lot of primes (€70 in total) but doesn’t compare with a win of course! The race had a 114 strong field with the entry of 2 other Irish girls (Michell Geoghegan and Imogen Cotter both didn’t finish this time) Here is the video of the race and near the end, you see the attack of Megan and the finish. The race was won by Kim De Baat NL (Dubai Police CT) https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1121715268352355 Thank you to Freddy Jansegers (one of the biggest fan of Irish girls racing in Belgium and a lover of Ireland with Ring of Kerry and Killarney as his favourite places) ex bike shop owner
