The Tour of Down “A Coastal Sportive” promoted by West Down Wheelers

A big thank you to West Down Wheelers (County Down) for organising the annual “Tour of Down” in the beautiful surroundings of the Mourne Mountains, and since 2015 partly in aid of the Belgian Project, which is enormously appreciated by us. 100 hard kms, starting in Katesbridge at the foot of the mountains, serving some rolling roads and hefty climbs towards the coast in Rostrevor, following the coast road till Newcastle, and via Castlewellan back to the village headquarters in Katesbridge. A very brisk wind welcomed the approx 90 riders, but the rain stayed away thankfully!! 2 groups on the road, the first and fastest group split in 2 due to a crash, last I heard some riders got injured, some cuts and bruises but nothing serious reported, hope you get better soon, behind them the slower group scattered in many pieces, but all got home safely…next stop the Travers Engineering Annaclone GP next Saturday promoted by Banbridge CC…see you all there, yours in sport, Dany Blondeel (Founder)
