Foreword Dany (Founder) : ” Over the 15 years the project had some great performances and wins from his graduates I have sent to Belgium, and kept me happy and spurred me on to continue to get our youngsters to “Live the Dream” Last Monday (10th April) it happened again, this one was a very special one, Oisin was selected in 2022 as graduate, and a crash in the Irish Junior Tour had a devastating result for the young Dungannon youngster with a fracture of the wrist…his dream was shattered and put on hold…His guest parents Sabien Himpe (photo above) and her husband Rik Masil (ex-pro footballer) offered Oisin another chance this Easter, which I am so grateful for!! It started wrong with his bike missing at Brussel Airport (thanks very much Ryan Air) and he missed his first race. After overcoming that problem he started his first race at Easter Sunday in Tielt (W-Flanders) and finished 9th!! A great result to start with, and encouraging, and his hunger for success was fueled…the following day (Easter Monday) was his day for sure…heavy rain and wind didn’t scare him at all…got in to the winning break early on with 3 others, worked his turn to stay away as photographs below proves his efforts, and BINGO…Tis pries” (a flemish saying) winning with a few bike lengths!! His dream came true!! So pleased for him, his parents back in Ireland, his former home team Island Wheelers, his current team Caldwell Cycles, and his guest parents Sabien and Rik. Oisin told me he wanted to pay me back with good results…he done this ten-fold for sure…THANK YOU OISIN, I had a wee tear in my eyes when I heard this news, and celebrated his win in the Scanlon’s Bar in Knockaderry-Newcastle West, as I was staying in Co-Limerick after the Ras Mumhan for a rest before travelling home. The ex- president of CI Liam Collins had a wee celebration drink with me, and sent his congratulation too…A AMAZING EASTER I had with a successful Ras Mumhan and Oisin’s win.
