Only 6 ladies masters at the start which was a bit disappointing, my feeling is if this would have been an official champ race it would have more entries. But as other additions to champs races, a trial run had to be done first which now happened, and hopefully, it can be run in the future…a medal race always will attract more interest in my humble opinion. It was run just behind the main elite women’s start, but it didn’t take the shine away from this dedicated older girls as some caught the main race which shows the quality of this masters.

Judith Russell continued her brilliant form with another win to her tally this season, Judith managed to reach the elite race and moved up swiftly to actually finished 7th in the main race and taking the top spot on the master’s podium, a few minutes later Stamullen’s Helen White took second and Sasha Gannon from the Breffni Wheelers Cavan took the last place on the rostrum. Sasha was talking to me last week in Omagh and said that her ambitions were to compete well and participate, but taking 3rd most have made her very happy. Mary Dawson from Bray Wheelers was 4th, Martina Hawkins (Dromara CC) who had a battle with Una May from Quanta-Scott Orwell Wheelers all race took 5th which left Una with the 6th place.

A solid 4th place for Mary Dawson
Helen White represented her famous club Stamullen in style with her second place, met her and Mary Dawson at the breakfast table at the guesthouse we were staying and we had a great chat about what’s to come that day
