Primoz Roglic hands out uppercut to his rival punchers and strengthens his leading position…Sam Bennett had to let go with 500m to go! Screenshots courtesy of GCN + TV
Primoz Roglic has reinforced his ambitions in Paris-Nice. The Slovenian from Jumbo-Visma was faster in a sprint uphill than Christophe Laporte and Michael Matthews. Dylan Teuns fell just off the podium. Thanks to the bonus seconds, the yellow hangs a lot more firmly around Roglic’s shoulders. Sam Bennett survived the hilly stage as best he could, his teammates tried to pilot him to the line, but it was too much for Sam…he had to let go after such efforts to keep in the front of the bunch just 500 meters away from the finish…he certainly tried!! He lost the lead in the point GC but should wear the green tomorrow due to his second place in that competition
Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix) has won the longest stage in Tirreno-Adriatico after a hell of a sprint!
Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix) beating Wout van Aert, who finished on the podium for the third stage in a row. After Van Aert and Alaphilippe, the Dutch champion has therefore also taken his stage victory. Ryan Mullen was a minute down of the front-group in 75th place.
