Banbridge CC once again bring the concluding round of the Cycling Ireland Road National Series to the roads of Co Down on Sunday 28th July. Having completed 5 rounds in Carlow, Cork, Mayo, Meath and Westmeath, competitors will travel north for Ulster’s only round of the series. Entry for the event is strictly via pre-registration only and can be accessed on Cycling Ireland’s Event Master> Entries close at 10pm on Thursday 25th July. Entry on: https://eventmaster.ie/event/BpoyF23c8j (Alan was a lifelong member of Banbridge CC, joining in 1973 and competing with distinction throughout the 1980’s. As a volunteer, Alan contributed immensely to the club from a young age and in various roles. Hosting a national event in Alan’s memory is a fitting tribute to his valued contribution to Banbridge Cycling Club and to the sport of cycling)

The Connacht Leisure Series has staged two events so far in Sligo and Roscommon and we look forward to three more events over the next few weeks.As the Series stages one event in each County the final three are in Leitrim, Galway and Mayo
First up on Sunday July 28th in Manorhamilton Leitrim is the Leitrim Glens Sportive with four events 40k,100k,150k and 200k.
All of the events quite challenging but particularly the 200k which does not often be offered in Sportive events. All the details can be found on their website www.leitrimglens.ie
The Leitrim event is followed by the Galway event staged by Galway Bay CC on Saturday August 3rd which is the same weekend as the Galway Classic Road Race so plenty of options here in Galway for all levels of Cyclists. All info on www.ridetheclassic.com
The Series finishes off in Cong,Co.Mayo with the Cunga Ram on Sunday August 11th hosted by Cunga CC which is staged over some of the most scenic parts of Ireland.You can check out their Routes and Info on the event on Cunga CC social media pages.

Entry open: https://eventmaster.ie/event/VV7qUERTwv The Champion of Champions 25-mile TT, where Chris Boardman and Graeme Obree battled it out in the early 1990’s, leaving a course record held by Boardman which stood for 27 years. Boardman’s record finally fell in 2020 to George Peden (Prologue) with a time of 49:29, and again the following year to Marcus Christie (Banbridge) with a time of 49:25. Can you be the third to beat Boardman’s record? Prizes are awarded for fastest three times overall, fastest woman, and fastest Ards CC rider. In addition, the Shaw trophy is awarded to the fastest overall and the Shaw cup to the fastest woman. The 25 mile course is a traditional out and back course starting adjacent to Londonderry Park playing fields, with a dead turn outside Saltwater Brig, south of Kirkubbin. https://www.strava.com/routes/2925169719388276798 First rider off at 9:00am. NextVery sad news reaches us, Orwell Wheelers club member Niall Kieran was killed during a cycling holiday in the South of France with his dad Gerry. The 29 years old Niall went off the road into a ravine, and was pronounced death at the scene (Hautes-Pyrenees) In behalf of the Belgian Project, his sponsors, and followers we would like to sent our sincere condolences to Niall’s close family and friends. Rest in Peace Niall…
