2017 edition with the Belfast Lion Peter Hawkins leading the field. Peter has been in this race for as long as I can remember, won stages and jersey’s during the last decade and back again this year with his English Team Upshift Velo (He lives in Newcastle on Tyne now and is a teacher for a living)
It is a few years ago that we had a Belgian in the race (exclude me..lol) This year North Down CC took on Sven Demeydts as a guest rider. Sven was part of the Belgian team Decock 10 years ago and was 5th in Sunday stage in Bangor for his team. He is now an unattached rider and renowned MTB-Beach Racer. Sven does also triathlons and some road races to keep his hand in. Has specially trained for the TOTN in the Alps to get his climbing legs in order for the last stage this year. He is from my hometown Zeebrugge.
The overall winner will get this jersey to take home…will it stays in Ireland or go over the water we will find out on Easter Monday
