Some very notable results early April from our young Irish Cycling stars in Europe!! Seth Dunwoody and his team Cannibal B upfront all day in Paris Roubaix, Darren Rafferty (EF-Education) working hard for his team in the “Brabantse Pijl” in Leuven, Lara Gillespie showing her talent in the Tour of Moeskroen, and the Scheldeprijs in Schoten (Antwerp) and Killian O’Brien (Veleka Team Czech) winning the KOH (Marco Pantani Trophy) in the “Junior GP Marcello Falcone” in Terracina Italy!!

The 2024 “Des Hanlon Memorial” a Monument in Irish Racing was held yesterday in Carlow (Sun 24th March) It also was round 1 of the Irish National Road Series. Daire Feeley (All Human/VeloRevolution) got his 5th win of the season (and we only 3 weeks in!!), and 1st year junior Philip O’Connor (Dungarvan CC) taking 3rd in the A1-2 race!! Annelise Murphy (Longcourt Hotel/NCW Wheelers) got her second win of the season in the women’s version of this classic event!!

The 3 Irish CX warriors with Greta Lawless (Junior Girl), Conor Murphy (Junior Men) and Dean Harvey (Espoir) done their superbest, as they have to climb a hell of a mountain from the back of the grid, not to mention bad luck at the 2024 UCI CX World Champs in Tábor (Czech Republic) It their was medals for the support they received, the traveling support gang would deserve GOLD!!

Entrepreneur, and passionate cycling fanatic Barry Rogers (Co-Louth) have organised a fundraiser called the “Irish cyclo-cross support fund” to support continued development of the young riders (more training camps etc.) and providing opportunities to compete in suitably races outside of Ireland. This to help the small budget available at the moment!! We have the talent, but they need to get a chance to develop, this with more races abroad, which this fundraiser could provide…We at the BP fully endorse such efforts!!

The 2023 Cycling Ulster CX Championship was held in Portadown yesterday (Sun 10th Dec) with awful weather to start, but improved as the day went on!! A slippy, muddy, technical and bespoked course was waiting for our brave dirt devils!! The pit crew’s had their work cut out, maybe low nrs, but a cracking day in James Wilson’s back garden!!
