The World Championships 2019 so far for Team Ireland in a very wet Harrogate (Yorkshire GB) Sep 24, 2019 | Uncategorized | 0 Photos courtesy of Caroline Kerley & Sean Rowe as indicated, my thanks to both Junior Men and Women TT Belgian Project bursary holder Lara Gillespie got a respectable 20th out of 50 top world entries yesterday…a result to build on as only 1.24m away on the day from winner Aigul Gareeva who done a 22.16 for the 13.7km loop(Photo Caroline Kerley) “Full Gaz” for our graduate Kevin Mc Cambridge who appeared on TV many times, his name for a long while in the top ten times at different points on the circuit, in the end, he clocked a 20th overall out of 60 world junior testers in a time of 41:32m for the 27.6 km. In his own words, Kevin said he made some small mistakes but he will learn out of this valuable experience. The Italian winner Antonio Tiberi was the star of the show with changing bikes due to a crank problem, team cars hinder and still the fastest time of 38:28!! (Photo Caroline Kerley) Finley Newmark ended up in 44th place in 42:25 for the 26.7 km (Photo Caroline Kerley) The New Mixed Team Relay TT Another bursary holder of the Belgian Project in action in Harrogate was Dillon Corkery ( UCI World Cycling Centre composite team) in the new mixed relay TTT at the World Champs. The Bio-racer-DHL-FR racer done his best with the team which ended up 11thIn the background the famous Bettys Cafe where a cup of coffee costs more than a beer…the world going mad..lol (Photo Caroline Kerley) The Under 23 Men and Women Elite TT Ben Healey 15th and best of the Irish in 42:18m for the 30.3 km, with the winner an unbeatable Mikkel Bjerg (DEN) in 40:20m with an average of 45.06km!! (Photo Caroline Kerley) Michael O’Laughlin got 41st place with a time of 43:59m. He had a crash due to a waterlogged road and lost considerable time remounting and getting momentum again59 top world U23 testers entered (Photo Caroline Kerley) Kelly Murphy giving it all with a 47.44m for the 30.3km and ranked 24th on the day out of 53 entries.
